22nd Annual Conference on European Tort Law

13.04.2023

Essential information on court practice and legislation in the area of tort law in 2022. Including a Special Session on ‘Prospectus Liability’.

April 13 and 14, 2023 | Vienna

The Annual Conference provides a unique opportunity for both practitioners and
academics to discover the most significant tort law developments from across Europe
in 2022. Experts from each of the many jurisdictions represented will present selected
highlights from their contributions to the European Tort Law Yearbook, an annual volume which provides a comprehensive overview of legislative and judicial developments in tort law throughout Europe during the preceding year. The Yearbook ‘European Tort Law 2022’
will be published in autumn 2023. The national reports will be followed by an
overview of EU law developments and a comparative, concluding summary, which will
critically assess the most important trends and issues to emerge.

The Conference concludes with a special session on ‘Prospectus Liability’. In this special session, Matthias Lehmann (Vienna) and Danny Busch (Nijmegen) will introduce the topic, while Marc I Steinberg (Dallas, Texas) will offer a US perspective on prospectus liability. Paola Lucantoni (Rome) will lecture on the relevant breach of duties and Vino L Timmerman (Rotterdam) on causation and damages. The special session is available free of charge as a live stream.
