030401 VO Colloquium “The impact of EU law on national civil procedure”, Anna Wallerman, LL.D., Associate senior lecturer, University Gothemburg, Wednesday, 4 May 2016 10:00 a.m. – 3 p.m., Sem 34 Juridicum.
Content of the course: There is no EU code of civil procedure. However, in order to safeguard the rights granted to individuals by the Union, the Member States are under duty to provide effective procedures. This puts national civil procedure under the supervision and influence of the European Court of Justice. The lecture will address the requirements raised by EU law and how they affect the national judges’ application of procedural rules. It will also discuss some general trends in this development, attempting to pinpoint how civil procedure is likely to change following – or adapt to – Union influence.
